Hello, I’m Janette. I draw, paint, and occasionally write and illustrate poems - mostly haiku. I work in: watercolour, ink pen, pencil, acrylic..and at times, with my fingertip on an iPad. From some of my art I create high quality, inkjet art prints; producing them in my home-studio, in beautiful Gippsland, Australia. Thankful† There’s information... Continue Reading →
*Gouache and pencil. Years go I did a bit of portraiture from sittings or photos. But these days I prefer to paint and draw faces to mainly create a mood, a feeling - not necessarily a likeness to anyone in particular. Aside from: still life, landscapes, flowers, some animals, birds… faces - usually female, continue... Continue Reading →
Making More Sketchbooks – and Filling Them Up…
There’s so much about bookbinding I find fascinating: the various stitching methods, the tools….making covers… Given time I hope to delve into it more. For now I’ve chosen to use relatively simple and quick bookbinding techniques for my sketchbooks - namely: “Perfect” binding, “Saddle stitch”, and more recently “Accordion” styles. In the above picture, the... Continue Reading →
*Gouache and watercolour on a tiny canvas: approx. 10.2 cm x 15.2cm (4” x 6”). To protect the painting I rubbed on some Dorlands Wax. It applies without smudging the paint, and gives a pleasant, low sheen finish. Watercolour, pencil, inkpen…have for many years been my mainstay. Delightful to use, and so handy for quick... Some Sketches: Inkpen, Watercolour, Gouache, Art App Media…
Drawn with a dark sepia inkpen, and then added watercolour washes. Mostly my art is inspired by scenes from home - my favourite place to be. I’m not often directly looking at the subject matter. However: bowls, teapots, fruit, a vase of flowers, pot-plants, the garden, gumtrees, paddocks, bushland, birds…are daily in view - providing... Continue Reading →
I began this painting with a brown watersoluble “Neocolor” crayon, applied with a flourish (and without much of a plan) onto A4 cotton watercolour paper. Then added watercolour and gouache. I used a tiny bit of coloured pencil here and there. The paper texture was a little rougher than I usually like to use for... Continue Reading →
I drew this with a black inkpen and watersoluble graphite crayon on paper. With my iPad I took a snap of it, then sent it to my inkjet printer. I printed it (with the printer also set to black and white) onto “rough” A5 cotton watercolour paper. It was fun working/playing over it with watercolour... Continue Reading →
